increasing participation - suggestions needed

So, I've noticed that community traffic has been rather slow for a while. There have only been five posts in the last week, and we used to get at least five posts a DAY. This makes me sad, because I have been with this community since its birth, and I've been a mod for almost as long. I feel like this place is sort of my baby, and I don't want it to die.

We are constantly getting new members, so this seems strange to me. Of course, the amount of new members we get probably balances out with the number of older members who stop being around so much.

I would really like to see more posts and comments and discussions happening. Maybe this simply can't happen; is it just me, or does it seem like the "ED underground" movement on LJ has dwindled significantly in the last year or so? Perhaps it had its heyday from 2004-2006ish and now it has hit a possibly permanent slump.

I'm noticing this on my personal friends list as well. There just aren't very many people around anymore, and a lot of our posts don't even focus so much on our disorders now. I guess this could be attributed to our getting older and having real life to mess around with, but I miss the sense of true community and constant learning that used to be going on here at ed_ucate and in our little corner of the internet in general.

Anyway, the point is that I would really like your suggestions for how to combat this. If anyone has any ideas at all for community activities, discussion topics, insight as to why this slowness has been happening, etc., please tell me. I'd really like to see this place up and running again.
