bulimia buddies?

"most bingeing and purging occurs in secret, or in the company of a very close friend."

This quote came from an Anne Collins website listing the signs and stats for bulimia, and it struck me as rather strange.

I know (thank you super-legit LJ ED communities) that the prevalence of "ana buddies" is not that low - whether it's in an online form or in person. But "mia buddies"? This just strikes me as odd, even just down to the logistics. How would it work?

Am I just not that well-versed in the secrets of communal EDs (my friends may know that I have fucked up attitudes toward food, but they don't ask to join in!)? Do people do this? Or is this just a crazy overstatement by a diet guru?

Would you join someone in a binge/purge session if you both were of that ED persuasion?
