Stop the madness

I know this has been touched on before, but I wanted maybe a little more discussion..
Do you think that there has been an increase in the instance of people with eating disorders, say within the past year, or just an increase in people who "think" they have eating disorders, or maybe just increased media attention on eating disorders??...
case in point: ashlee simpson..who at 13 or whatever she was (pre-pubscent i am sure) weighed 70 something lbs, and didn't "eat much of anything for like, 6 months" she is calling this anorexia..
I was out with some friends of the family the other day and this woman starts talking about how she "used to be anorexic" and her husband says "yah we would eat hot dogs and she would just eat the bun"
I just wonder, why the glamour? Or is it just ignorance as to what an eating disorder ACUALLY is...??
Any thoughts?

i know i may be off my rocker on this one & need to learn to not get offended (mass amounts of celebrities admitting to six-month bouts of eating disordered mayhem & staged interventions will do that to a girl). however i'd love to hear peoples feedback & i apologize for the nature of this post.
