This is the approach my therapy (group therapy) takes:
- Behavior (CBT)
This must come first. You can't work on your thoughts or anything else if you are starving.
- Cognitions (CBT)
Tools and skills for recognising and dealing with distortions, negative thinking, disordered thinking.
- Emotional Regulation Skills (DBT)
An example that I'm working on: I'm under lots of stress at work, the stress is released, I binge. Triggers fall into this category.
- Interpersonal Effectiveness Skill (IPT)
Assertiveness, boundaries, etc.
